Kito Jempere presents Part Time Chaos Part Time Calmness

Kito Jempere’s latest release, Part Time Chaos Part Time Calmness, is a vibrant journey through musical genres and the complex emotional landscapes of his life, balancing roles as both an artist and family man. Renowned for his work in house music, Kito’s career has been defined by rhythmic club beats and a pulse felt on dance floors worldwide. Yet, with this album, he steps outside these familiar territories, immersing himself in the introspective realms of downtempo pop and exploring a narrative depth he likens to “the movie I’ve never made but have the soundtrack for.” The album takes his listeners on a transformative journey, reflecting his evolution from dance-focused tracks to deeply personal, genre-blending storytelling.

The project reconnects Kito with his roots, bringing back an old guitar that guides the creation of tracks like “Killer Line” and “Love Myself But I Can’t Make It Love.” These tracks marry nostalgia with innovation, weaving a rich tapestry of sound that resonates with the thematic undercurrents he began exploring in Green Monster, released last year. Collaborations with diverse talents like Jimi Tenor, Adam Evald, and Hard Ton inject additional textures into the album, enhancing Kito’s blend of old and new styles. Rather than a departure from his past, Part Time Chaos Part Time Calmness is a reintegration, a merging of his house-oriented past with his reflective, experimental side.

Beginning with the folk-infused “Killer Line,” the album then veers into unexpected territory, with pieces like the hauntingly beautiful flamenco-jazz fusion “Before Music Dies” and the sunlit, coastal vibes of “Sounds of Love.” These songs showcase Kito’s fluid approach to genre, seamlessly blending 80s synthwave with Balearic breaks, resulting in an album that is both cinematic and intimate. The album then transitions to “Footsteps,” whose lo-fi warmth leads to the narrative “In The Countryside,” featuring clever nods to pop culture with references to Tarantino’s Red Apple cigarettes and High Fidelity, adding layers of personal connection and whimsy.

This departure from strict club sounds allows Kito to showcase his versatility, experimenting with beats and melodies that range from highly polished to raw and unfiltered. Tracks like “Absent Ascent” radiate with epic synth waves, while “Shorespotting” (with Adam Evald) and “Lovers” create a soothing, freeing experience. Each song feels like a new scene, each a chapter in Kito’s journey of self-reflection and liberation.

In Part Time Chaos Part Time Calmness, Kito Jempere explores the beauty of life’s contradictions. The album represents the peace he has gained through struggle and his willingness to accept change, embodying a journey both backward and forward in time, creating an album that reads as both a reflective memoir and an invitation to explore new artistic frontiers.
