Karry G: «The toughest part is definitely finding an idea that really clicks»

Ukrainian artist Karry G talks about how she creates new music and what music she has on her playlist.

1. What are the most difficult moments of creating a track? Tell us the creative process step by step.

The toughest part is definitely finding an idea that really clicks. It usually starts with some inspiration—could be a mood, an event, or just random thoughts. I’ll begin by crafting a basic melody, bassline, or drums to set the direction. Sometimes, I start with a vocal idea or hook. Then, in the studio, we work on the arrangement, adding different elements and my vocals. The challenge is making everything blend smoothly while keeping it unique.

2. How do you choose tracks for your sets? Whats the key to this?

Selecting tracks for a set is an art form in itself. The key is understanding the vibe of the night. I always make sure to include a few of my own tracks, since I’m a vocalist DJ and it’s important to showcase my work. I also pick tracks that match the energy and mood of the night, while throwing in some surprises to keep things interesting.

3. Whats currently on Karry G's playlist?

Right now, Karry G’s playlist is a mix of melodic and progressive tracks, some groovy techno, and a few classic tracks that never get old. And, of course, some of my own music. I’m really into tracks with strong, driving beats and catchy melodies. It’s all about finding those tunes that get the energy flowing and keep the vibes high.

4. They say that all DJs dont listen to music in their everyday life. What about you?

I actually listen to music all the time, even outside of gigs. It’s not just about keeping up with the latest trends; it’s about staying inspired and finding new sounds. Whether I’m chilling at home or in the car, music is often on. It helps me stay connected to what’s happening in the industry and keeps my creative juices flowing.
