MAØ Records arrives with a clear idea of where it wants to operate.

Based in Barcelona and focused on industrial, mental and hypnotic techno, the new label launches its catalogue with Señal Muerta, a four-track EP from Invocamvs. Released as MAØ001, the record introduces an artist whose approach is defined by heavy rhythmic foundations, detailed percussion and a fascination with the possibilities hidden inside repetition.

The release is concise, but its aesthetic is deliberately dense.

Invocamvs is the project of producer José Manuel Díaz Forte, active under the alias since 2023. Behind the relatively recent project is more than twenty years of experience producing and exploring electronic music, a background that helps explain the confidence with which the EP approaches its chosen territory.

There is no attempt to disguise the physical nature of the music.

The kick drum is central. Industrial percussion provides much of the texture. Rhythmic layers are carefully positioned to create movement without necessarily disturbing the hypnotic framework.

“Maston” establishes this approach immediately, introducing a sound that is forceful but controlled.

“No Limit” moves further into the EP's hypnotic dimension. Its title suggests an important part of the project's philosophy: the loop is not necessarily a limitation. It can be a structure in which increasingly subtle variations become audible.

That is where repetition becomes interesting.

The best hypnotic techno does not need to constantly introduce new material. Instead, it changes the listener's relationship with material that is already there.

“Señal Muerta”, the title track, reinforces this idea through its central concept of transmission and interruption. The phrase itself carries a certain tension: a signal is supposed to communicate, while a dead signal represents the moment when communication breaks down.

Yet silence is not necessarily the absence of sound.

In electronic music, a dead signal can become noise, interference, pulse or texture.

The EP's darker aesthetic works in a similar space.

“The Animal” closes the record without abandoning the established vocabulary. Rather than turning towards a radically different mood, it completes the four-track sequence by reinforcing the physical and rhythmic character of the release.

The result is a record that feels deliberately contained.

This is particularly appropriate for a first label release. MAØ Records describes its releases as self-contained micro-universes, and Señal Muerta provides a clear example of that idea. Each track belongs to the same environment, but the four pieces offer enough variation to keep the journey moving.

There is also an important connection between the production and Invocamvs' DJ practice.

The producer has developed his sets through clubs and festivals across Europe and has a particular affinity with vinyl. That relationship with the dancefloor informs the EP's physical qualities, but the detailed rhythmic construction keeps it from becoming merely functional.

The tracks are built to move bodies, but they also leave room for close attention.

That balance is central to MAØ001.

The record does not attempt to reinvent techno. Instead, it concentrates on some of the genre's oldest and most powerful tools — repetition, rhythm, tension, texture — and examines how much depth can be extracted from them.

For MAØ Records, that is a strong foundation for a catalogue.

For Invocamvs, it is a clear introduction to the project.

And for Señal Muerta, it creates exactly the kind of atmosphere suggested by its title: a dark space in which the signal may disappear, but the rhythm continues to transmit.
